Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

So for my English class we had to read a short story, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” It’s the most unsettling story I’ve ever read in my life…only because along with the short story, we had to read about the killer (Chalres Schmid) who was the main inspiration behind the story AND listen to Bob Dyan’s song “It’s All Over Now”…oh and let’s not forget about the different dark pictures we had to look at titled “Death and the Maiden”.

I swear, I felt like I was going to get raped. Not trying to be funny or anything, but I really felt exposed. Despite being incredibly gloomy and freakishly uncomfortable, I still think people should read the story. It’ll probably freak people out…or maybe I’m exaggerating. I guess you need read the story+the wiki on Charles Schmid+listen to Bob Dyan’s song+observe the paintings/engravings of Death and the Maiden to get what I mean.

Then right after this story, we had to read another short story “Death by Landscape”. I think my professor wants me to cut myself or something. What an emotionally heavy reading assignment. My happiness bar just dropped to negative 100.
