JulOrientation
I really wonder why people say orientation is SOOOOO fun. It’s not. All you do at orientation is meet new people (who you don’t even really get to spend time with) and sit on your ass for HOURS to listen to the advisers explain to the freshmen how to use the websites, financial aid, dorm policies, school policies, stress, sleep, studying, football games, and the list goes on. They specifically give you time at night to go to the ARC for the pool/dodge ball/all that fun exercising stuff and the arcade/bowling…but you’re too busy trying to find A BUNCH of potential classes to actually have any fun. I guess the only fun part was meeting people and eating at the DC (they had so much food).
It was so hot there, I really was ready to go home since I was just exhausted from picking, at the LEAST, 30 potential classes. Then came the day to sign up for courses. Signing up for class for the first time EVER was incredibly stressful. The orientation advisers push you to hurry up since classes get filled up quickly. I wasn’t able to get my 4 top classes that I wanted and when I actually finished, the orientation leader wouldn’t let me sign up for a fourth class since I was “over” the number of units that the school advises freshmen to have. I swear, they underestimate our ability to study and our intelligence. Anyway, in the end I decided to not listen to them and just signed up for courses by myself. I was so happy that orientation day was finally over.
Having that said, I still am excited for school to start. I like my classes and my schedule…though I am worried that I might not get good grades. I just need to hope for the best. Now I need to stress over my new roommate(s)! I hope I end up with someone/people who aren’t difficult to live with!
